Kiribati Immersion Departure
Our Kiribati travellers are currently enjoying their time in the Pacific region and are pictured just prior to departure at Melbourne Airport. I am fortunate to be experiencing Kiribati for the first time, spending the first four days with the group.

Parent/Teacher/Student Conferences
I warmly encourage you to make appointments with teachers for the Parent/Teacher/Student Interviews being held on Thursday 27 June. The interviews provide an important part of feedback regarding learning at St Joseph’s College.

Open Day
On Sunday 16 June, the College held an Open Day for families who are considering St Joseph’s College for enrolment. I’m most grateful to many staff who prepared inspiring presentations. Thanks to the many students who also came along to be Ambassadors or to perform musical pieces. At one stage, the relatively new Drum Line was following groups across the College oval and really making an impact! A reminder that enrolments for Year 7 2021 officially close on Friday 23 August.

VET Restaurant Night
A magnificent dinner was served to Mrs Vivienne Egan, Mrs Belinda Zmood and me on Wednesday 5 June. Students from VET Hospitality were involved in one of several restaurant nights held across the year. The students involved were Lachlan Geradts (12 Edwards) (Kitchen Operations), Daniel Djuric (12 Prest) (Kitchen Operations) and Samuele Brotto-Crowhurst (12 O’Sullivan) (Hospitality).

Lighthouse Expo
On Tuesday 11 June, I was fortunate to be present at the Lighthouse Expo showcasing the commitment of our Year 10 students who have worked closely with several students from local Catholic primary schools. Thanks to Ms Alex Bantock who coordinated the event following the full semester of the Lighthouse Program.

Music Fiesta – Vocal and Piano Evening
It was inspiring to witness the development of music students as they performed at the Inaugural Vocal and Piano Evening on Thursday 13 June. My thanks are extended to Miss Bronwyn Dean, Mr James Ferguson and all involved in the showcase of student talent.

Work Experience
Good luck to the Year 10s on Work Experience in the final week of term. Work Experience is one of those important opportunities whereby students continue to discern the fields of work they may pursue in the future.

Reunion Class of 1969 and 1979
The first Reunion of the year is being held on Wednesday 26 June 6pm-8pm.

QuickSmart Literacy
Recently, the staff group implementing QuickSmart Literacy completed the next two days of professional learning. Pictured are Mrs Belinda Zmood and Mr Peter Wright presenting some of the work that the QuickSmart Team has prepared.

Woolworths Earn and Learn
This initiative finishes on Monday 24 June. Stickers need to be returned by the end of term for redemption to Woolworths. Please keep sending your stickers along to school with your son and ask him to hand in to his Homeroom Teacher or Student Reception by the end of term so they can be included.

Cagliero Immersion
Over the break, two Year 11 students (Alex Eames (11 O’Sullivan) and Tate Levay (11 Cantamessa)) will be participating in a Cagliero program in Cambodia which connects with our Salesian community abroad.

Thank You
As the term draws to a close, I am reminded of the many achievements of students in the first half of this year. I acknowledge and thank our staff for their generous contribution to the life of St Joseph’s College in supporting students and families.

All the best for the term break.

Ms Cathy Livingston
