Father Alan Fox
As mentioned in the last Newsletter, Father Alan Fox is leaving the Parish of St John the Baptist in coming weeks to take up an appointment as Parish Priest of Our Lady’s, Cheltenham. At our recent Whole School Assembly, we acknowledged and thanked Father Alan for his fine service over 14 years as a Canonical Administrator of the College including four years as President and Chair of the College Board.

Father Alan is celebrating his 25th Anniversary of Ordination on Tuesday 20 August with a Mass of Thanksgiving at 7pm at St John the Baptist Church, 19 Forest Road, Ferntree Gully. This event will serve, also, as a farewell. If you would like to attend, please send a brief email to office@stjohnthebaptist.net.au.

Parish Mass
Students represented the College extremely well at the recent Sunday mass at Our Lady of Lourdes in Bayswater. I appreciate the efforts of all students, staff and parents, as well as Jack Moses (12 Ledda) and Abel Sujeev (12 Edwards), who spoke passionately about their experiences at St Joseph’s College. Father Chris Ford celebrated mass and welcomed us to the Bayswater community while Father Sebastian made us feel very welcome.

Reunion Class of 1989
Recently we hosted the Reunion of the Class of 1989. Several Old Boys returned to catch up with former classmates. It was great to welcome the former students back to St Joseph’s College and there was lots of reminiscing over the course of the evening. Tony Di Donato provided our guests with a tour of the College, bringing back distant memories.

Musical
It’s only a few weeks away! The Mater Christi College and St Joseph’s College production of A Chorus Line is in the final stages of rehearsal, following months of work by dedicated staff and students. Tickets are now on sale and available to purchase via this link.

Enrolments
Enrolments for Year 7 2021 close on Friday 23 August 2019. Should you have relatives or friends who are interested in joining the St Joseph’s College community, please let them know to check our website for details of enrolment procedures, tours and events. It is important that siblings of current students submit an application.

Swimming
Whether it’s preparation for next year’s ACC Swimming or simply a desire to improve fitness, boys have the opportunity to be involved in training on Thursday mornings before school led by Mr Patrick van Dyk in the St Joseph’s Indoor Swim Centre. I commend the staff and students who are braving the frosty mornings to improve their fitness and skill levels.

Condolences
Our condolences are extended to Mrs Ali Smart and family. Ali’s mother, Betty, died recently in Tasmania. We also extend our condolences to Ms Bromwyn Isbel on the passing of her father, Allan Watson, this week.

Congratulations
Ms Danielle Karafilis and her husband. Matt, have welcomed a baby boy, Maxton. Congratulations and best wishes for the future.

We congratulate Mr Nick Harvey and his wife, Claire on the safe arrival of Mila at the beginning of June. Mila is a baby sister to Asher.

All the best for the fortnight ahead.
