On Tuesday 23 October, we celebrated mass with the College community followed by the Year 12 Graduation. We were fortunate to have Fr Martin Tanti (College Rector), Fr Jim Acreman, Fr Alan Fox (President of the Canonical Administrators of the College) and Fr Longinus Onyechesi (Canonical Administrator) to celebrate mass. On behalf of the entire community, I extend best wishes to all students over the forthcoming examination period.

As advised in an earlier Newsletter, the College is introducing a new uniform from 2019. The details of the new uniform will be available in coming weeks. Current students will be subject to a three year changeover period and the details of what is expected will be clearly outlined. Current students will be able to purchase the new uniform for 2019, however, ‘mix and match’ is not allowed. For example, if you wish to purchase a new sports uniform for 2019, you would need to purchase the entire new sports uniform. It will be possible to purchase items from the current uniform over the next three years should your son need only a small number of pieces. If your son is currently in Years 7 or 8, he is able to stay in the current uniform and make the change to the new uniform in 2020, 2021 or 2022.

My sincere congratulations are extended to Ms Siobhan Duffy, Arts and Technology Leader, and her team for the successful staging of the annual Arts and Technology Evening showcasing the work of students across a range of areas. Students are to be commended for their dedicated approach to producing work of a very high standard.

Congratulations to former student, Jake Keogh (Class of 2013) who was elected as the new Knox Mayor on Wednesday evening 31 October.

The next College Open Evening is Tuesday 13 November at 6pm. Should you have friends or family members interested in attending St Joseph’s College, the Open Evening is a wonderful way to see what is on offer.

Our prayers and condolences are extended to Mr John Dixon and his family. John’s father, Mr Henry Dixon, died recently.

All the best for the fortnight ahead.

Ms Cathy Livingston
